Career Goals

To represent this integration, I have drawn a tree. Our past, present, and future experiences contribute to our identities. The tree trunk represents my core. My immediate family including myself, husband, boys, and dog have their own row above the roots of the tree. Below our five faces are my "roots" additional support made up of family, friends, and mentors. The drawings further up on the trunk represent my background, gender, role in my family, religion, education, and medical degree. Next are the leaves of the tree, in the center is my family. I am happy when they are happy and vice versa. To achieve happiness, I wish for health, wellness, and love. Other "leaves" that contribute to personal joy are family, friendships, and teamwork in the work setting in a culture of safety providing the best possible care for patients. Work leads to financial security for my family. I achieve satisfaction in the academic arena by seeing my residents and students succeed. These successes include graduations, board certifications, and long-lasting mentor-mentee relationships with learners. My future career goals include educational scholarship, participation in national scholarship, leadership positions, and moving from associate professor to professor rank.
